Screw base lightbulbs such as the E26 lamp base were introduced by Edison and became widely adopted in the early 20th century. Currently, they are the most common standard in American households。Lamp Base: In the US, "medium" indicates a base that is about 1" in diameter. Synonyms for medium are "standard", "Edison" and E26. It's best to call medium "medium" or "E26" because when other bases are being discussed, the two other synonyms may cause confusion. Here in the US and elsewhere, there are other screw-thread bases that are prefixed with an "E" followed by a number indicating diameter expressed in millimeters. "Edison" is medium in the US, but only by general usage and not by any technicality, unless one is inclined to argue (probably unwisely) that E11, E12, etc., is not an acknowledgment of Edison's contribution. Dimensions and tolerances for screw bases are standardized in ANSI standard C81.67 and IEC standard 60061-1. The two standards have mostly been harmonized, although several types exist in only one of the two standards with no equivalent in the other. The designation Exx refers to the diameter in millimeters (i.e., E26 lamp holder has a diameter of 26 mm.)...

Yes, you can! They are the same diameter and thread size. The only difference is that the E26 is 26mm long and the E27 is 27.5mm long. The E26 lamp holder is the standard 120 Volt American base. The E27 is the European variant and is rated at 220 Volts. E26 is 26 mm and the E27 is 27 mm diameter. However, an E26 bulb can fit in E27 base and an E27 bulb can fit in E26 base without problem. The sockets / bulbs are interchangeable except for the voltage rating. E26 LED light bulbs and E27 LED light bulbs are Edison based LED lights that have a medium screw base. This is a standard household light bulbs base for traditional incandescent lights. The E stands for Edison and the 26 and 27 refer to the diameter of the screw base. In some, but not all cases an E26 LED light bulbs have a slightly smaller voltage range to include only 100VAC to 130VAC where E27 LED lights will support up to 80VAC to 240VAC voltage range....

(1)Rectangular skirt optional. Dimensions A and F apply to the tapered skirt design option, as shown. Dimension A defines the location of the corners of the skirt, where the taper starts. (2)Ceramic / Porcelain lamp holder (3)Detail of screw thread. Right-hand thread. (4)"T" is the distance from the contact plate to the completion of the effective thread on unmounted caps. In North America some manufacturers use a dimension of 19,27 mm. Tmin. equals 19,56 mm is a future goal. (5)"T1" is the distance from the contact plate to the completion of the effective thread on finished lamps. (6)This dimension, which is derived from the theoretical thread profile, is for gauge design and is not to be checked on the cap. (7)Variations in the skirt slots, if used, are not covered by this standard. (8)For creepage distances, see IEC 60061-4, sheet 7007-6. (9)For E26/50x39 only. (10) For E26/51x39 only. (11) Dimensions C and L control the size of the insulation. Such control is necessary to avoid undesirable contact between the shell of a cap and the intermediate contact in a holder, whenever an E26/50x39- or E26/51x39-capped lamp is inserted into an E26d lamp holder. (12) This dimension is checked with a millimetre scale...

After the specific lamp has been selected, the next step is to check the lamp base. The lamps most commonly used in the hobby are single-ended, with a screw-type mounting base. The size of the base and the threads is also described by a code, although names are more commonly used. For example, Base - E39 is commonly called a mogul base. European lamps also have a mogul base, but it is slightly different from the E-39 and is called E40. The differences are small enough that the E40 base lamps will work fine in the typical E39 mogul base used in the U.S. Double-ended 150-watt lamps use the RSC (RX7s) base, while the 250-watt double-ended lamps use the Fc2 base. It shows the various shapes and configurations of lamps and bases, along with the restrictions on their various operating positions,Extensive line of lampholder devices offering a variety of materials for a wide range of incandescent and fluorescent applications including electrical equipment, harnesses and light strings. Porcelain lamp holder and bracket accepts any lamp with an E27 screw fitting, including the arcadia compact reptile lamps, as well as other types such as ceramic heat lamps. The ceramic material is resistant to high UV and heat levels. Mounted in a metal bracket that fixes to the vivarium roof or wall and which can be angled to direct the focus of the lamp....

Porcelain light sockets are made out of an electrical insulating material that can withstand high temperatures. Electrical insulators such as porcelain prevent heat and electricity from transferring from one metallic device to another. Replacement porcelain light sockets are corrosion resistant and can come with a moisture gasket that makes it suitable for outside use. Porcelain light sockets are found in antique lamps, vintage lamps and lamps that use halogen light bulbs or heat bulbs. Ensuring that electrical appliances are in good condition is important. And, repairing a frayed appliance cord is a good way of doing your share to ensure home safety. On the other hand, when it comes to working on electrical appliances, there can be dangers especially if you aren’t careful. For example: If you replace a lamp cord with undersized wire, overheating can occur and a fire can result. Other simple mistakes can be disastrous too. As you make the electrical repairs that we suggest, be sure that all connections are tight and snug. A loose electrical connection can promote arcing and a fire can result. Lack of proper insulation between the electrical contacts and the surrounding metal socket housing can result in a short circuit that can ultimately cause a fire....

1.Unplug the lamp and remove the light bulb.Start by pushing the lamp cord through the 1/4" hole toward the bottom of the base. Obviously, you want the plug on the far side of the cord and the bare wires to be pushed into the 1/4" hole and into the center of the porcelain socket. 2.Unscrew with your fingers the filial or decorative screw that holds the lamp shade in the lamp harp. Remove the lamp shade. Place your fingers on the harp sides where they start to bend up around the light bulb area on the lamp. Squeeze the harp sides toward each other with your fingers to get the ends of the harp, called the legs, to pull out of their slots or seats on the lamp and remove the harp. 3.Squeeze the socket shell and pull it out of the lamp base. If it won't squeeze apart, pry the shell from the base with a flat blade screwdriver.Disassemble the porcelain socket by removing the bottom metal piece and ceramic washer. You remove the bottom metal piece by unscrewing the two phillips screws in the bottom of the socket where the bulb is screwed in. 4.Loosen the set-screw on the lamp socket base. Unscrew the porcelain lamp holder and remove it. 5.Pull the wires out of the lamp gently. Unscrew the wire terminals with a screwdriver and unhook the wires. You will notice that the wires are knotted -- leave the wire end knotted; this prevents the lamp cord from pulling up and out of the lamp during use.Reassemble the porcelain socket carefully and make absolutely sure that the wires only touch their intended screw and do not touch any other metal. And make sure there are no bare wires that extend outside the metal base on the porcelain socket. Finally, double check that you have the ceramic washer that is installed in-between the wiring on the bottom of the socket and the metal bottom piece. Reinstall and snug the two phillips screws from the bottom of the socket where the bulb is installed....

1 Locate the circuit breaker for the lamp holder and turn the switch off. Circuit breakers are in your home's main electrical panel and should be labeled by room. If the breaker isn't labeled, turn the light on and turn each breaker off until the light goes out.Turn off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse from the fuse box that controls the light fixture. 2 Position the ladder beneath the recessed lighting and have a helper hold the ladder while you climb. 3 Unscrew the light bulb and test the lamp holderfor electrical current with a multimeter. Turn the multimeter selector switch to 250 ACV (alternating current voltage), touch the red wire lead to the metal tab in the center of the lamp holderand the black wire to the metal threaded side.Remove the glass cover over the light you are working on. The cover typically either slides off or unscrews, if it's a round cover. 4 Unscrew and remove the lightbulb, then take out the two screws in the ceramic lamp holder on each side of the bulb holder.Remove the two mounting screws on each side of the lamp holderbase by turning them counterclockwise with a screwdriver. Pull the lamp holderfixture gently -- it will now be free of the electrical box and suspended by two electrical wires screwed into the lamp socket fixture base. Make note of the wire colors and their placement on the fixture. Wires are usually black (hot) and white (neutral) 5 Pull down on the lamp holderand turn it to the side to expose the wiring. Loosen the two screws in the side of the fixture to pull off the two wires. Make a note of which wire attaches to which terminal screw....
