A mogul lamp is a floor lamp which has a large center light bulb surrounded by three (or four) smaller bulbs that may be candelabra-style or standard medium-base bulbs, each mounted base-down. This entire setting is typically covered, at least partially, by a large cylindrical shade which sits on an upturned, glass, hemispherical diffuser surrounding the center bulb. The top of the lamp is usually designed to sit just above eye-level of an average adult person standing next to it, to avoid unpleasant glare from unshaded bulbs.
bulbs have larger screw bases (E39) than the standard, medium E26 lampholders. In fact, the “39” of E39 and “26” of E26 each refer to the millimeter width of the respective screw bases (i.e., E39 base bulbs = 39 millimeters = 1.5 inches; and E26 base bulbs = 26 millimeters = 1.0 inch), and do not refer to the shapes of the light bulbs.
More power, more heat. Mogul base bulbs are made of cast porcelain to tolerate higher temperatures, making them ideal for industrial and commercial uses (e.g., power ratings of 250-1000 watts); in terms of technology, mogul base compact fluorescent bulbs, in addition to mogul base halogen, mercury vapor, metal halide, and high pressure sodium bulbs are available in the market.
“U” stands for mogul base. Selecting the correct size bulb can be confusing because light bulbs in general are available in different base sizes. All you have to remember when reading product descriptions is this: the “U” in, for example, M175/U/MED and MH1000/U/BT56, stand for mogul base. But if you happened to get a medium base bulb (E26) for your mogul base lamp (E39), the good news is that you can get a reducer to use the E26 light bulb on your E39 base bulb lamp; additionally, you can get a converter to use a 3-way E26 light bulb in a 3-way E39 base bulb lamp.
The bulb socket in the center has a larger diameter (a mogul base) than a regular Edison screw light socket, and is typically made of cast porcelain for the higher temperatures. Mogul-base lamps are available for industrial use in larger power ratings (250-1500) and in halogen, mercury vapor, high-pressure sodium and Metal-halide lamp configurations. Compact fluorescent mogul-base bulbs are also available, as are adaptors to allow medium-base bulbs to be used in mogul sockets.
There are usually two three-way switches near the top of the floor lamp to operate the bulbs. One controls the three-way center bulb, and the other turns on one, two, or all three (or four) of the peripheral bulbs. The center bulb may be very high power (often a three-way, 100-200-300 watt bulb), where the others are usually 60 watts or less. Some models have a night light in the base operated by a foot switch....

All fluorescent light fixtures consist of at least lamp(s), lamp holders, fluorescent ballast and internal wiring. Some older types have "starters", too. The ballast is used to create the voltage and current necessary to start and illuminate the fluorescent lamp. In time, the ballast may need to be replaced. Read on to learn how to swap out the old with an approved replacement ballast of the same technology. Please read the entire article and warnings before attempting.
The linear fluorescent lampholders continues to grow with the newly introduced T8 series featuring rotary lamp-lock technology and bottom push-in wiring. Our linear fluorescent brochure details the many different mounting, wire insertion and lamp insertion configurations available.

E26 sockets can be used with European standard E27 lampholder bulbs. Both types are interchangeable, and some light fixtures refer to these sockets as E26/E27. However, E27 sockets are rated for 220V; therefore, the voltage compatibility of bulb and light fixture must be checked.
E26 LED light bulbs and E27 LED light bulbs are Edison based LED lights that have a medium screw base. This is a standard household light bulbs base for traditional incandescent lights. The E stands for Edison and the 26 and 27 refer to the diameter of the screw base. In some, but not all cases an E26 LED light bulbs have a slightly smaller voltage range to include only 100VAC to 130VAC where E27 LED lights will support up to 80VAC to 240VAC voltage range.

Lamp Socket adapters enable light bulbs to be fitted to lamps or other light fixtures that are built with sockets of varying sizes. These adapters essentially work as interim sockets that, once screwed into a fixture’s own socket, allow for such fixtures to use either larger or smaller light bulbs than what they have been built to hold. Socket adapters that allow for the fitting of smaller bulbs are called ‘socket reducers’ while those that enable the use of larger bulbs are called ‘socket enlargers’.
many types of adapters have been invented to take advantage of the availability of the lamp socket. Common types include the adapters that screw into the lamp socket and convert it into a wall outlet. This is particularly convenient when installing outside Christmas lights when a standard outlet is not available. Other types convert the light socket into a switchable outlet while still allowing for the use of the light bulb. Smoke detectors have also been designed to connect to the porcelain lampholder without interfering with the light bulb's operation....

E26 lampholder and E27 have been designated as the IEC standard . Lighting system in each country because of different mains voltages vary , E26 mostly mains voltage is 100V ~ 120V countries used , E27 for the 220V ~ 240V multi- national use. So the market seen E26 bulb fixed voltage is 100V ~ 120V for multiple ; E27 mostly 220V ~ 240V , and industrial machinery with safety bulb to 36V .
E26 and E27 are two outer diameter of the thread are close to valley difference is the thread depth E , E26 relatively shallow . Another E27 base of the neck is longer than the E26 , so the two should match their specifications lamp holder. If the E27 to E26 lamp holder cap screwed on , you will find a lot of neck exposed metal experience ( likely to cause an electric shock ) . E27 except in China , are also common in Europe . E26 in North America , more common in Japan .
1, E on behalf of Edison screw bulbs , 26, 27 refers to the nominal diameter of the bulb thread . E26 is the American standard specifications , E27 is the European standard specifications. Our country also uses the European standard specifications
2, E26 E27 less than half of the spiral , the former is 110V, which is 220-240V, although there is not much difference in the use , but if E26 use in European countries is certainly short life , it is easy for the body to produce unpredictable hazards
3, E26 E27 caliber is not quite as big , one is 26 , one is 27 , you can use the bulb to compare the test: You can use an E26 bulb test ; feel tight that is E26 , the E27 is a relatively loose ; contrary E27 bulb can also be used for testing : tight is E26 , the E27 is better rotation can also sign up from certified distinguishing ! !
I remember a little height E27 high !
4.E26 not only look different with E27 , E26 usually have cable , but the E27 is usually to connect wires threaded terminal ; two are different standards department porcelain lampholders , E26 is the American standard system , E27 is based on IEC standards Department ; export certification,...

The E26 lampholder (medium). The letter "E" designation refers to the Edison screw type, while the number refers to the diameter of the base in millimeters.
Bulb Sockets
Screw base designations are also assigned to bulb sockets. For example, a light fixture with an E26 bulb socket will require an E26 base bulb to work with. E26 is the American standard socket for E26 base bulbs rated for 120V.E26 lampholder can be used with European standard E27 base bulbs. Both types are interchangeable, and some light fixtures refer to these sockets as E26/E27. However, E27 sockets are rated for 220V; therefore, the voltage compatibility of bulb and light fixture must be checked.
