HID mogul socket is made from porcelain and work for open rated fixtures using metal halide, high pressure sodium, mercury vapor lamps. They have a pulse rating and are a suitable replacement for any socket in an HID fixtures. These also have two wire leads for connecting convenience. These are pulse rated for the substantial voltage that is generated for starting the lamps.
A mogul socket is a floor lamp which has a large center light bulb surrounded by three (or four) smaller bulbs that may be candelabra-style or standard medium-base bulbs, each mounted base-down. This entire setting is typically covered, at least partially, by a large cylindrical shade which sits on an upturned, glass, hemispherical diffuser surrounding the center bulb. The top of the lamp is usually designed to sit just above eye-level of an average adult person standing next to it, to avoid unpleasant glare from unshaded bulbs.
bulbs have larger screw mogul socket (E39) than the standard, medium E26 mogul socket. In fact, the “39” of E39 and “26” of E26 each refer to the millimeter width of the respective screw mogul socket (i.e., E39 base bulbs = 39 millimeters = 1.5 inches; and E26 base bulbs = 26 millimeters = 1.0 inch), and do not refer to the shapes of the light bulbs.
European mogul socket provides the ultimate in quality and performance for high intensity discharge (HID) lighting applications. Made from the highest-quality porcelain, the lampholder provides a superior screw shell with lamp grips.
